My wife and I started off 2010 by deciding for each other that “this is the year of you.” This new mantra offers us both the hope and inspiration that we need in order to meet our goals in the coming year. I can’t help but wonder how many of you set the goal of getting in better shape this year. I’m willing to bet that, for most of us, this is a new year’s resolution that we make every year, but for some reason two weeks later we find ourselves falling back into the same old bad habits and routines.
Finding proper motivation to stay focused on such a goal is of great importance. I have always been inspired by watching the experts that I look up to practice their craft. I love to watch old training clips of Bruce Lee and Muhammed Ali, and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to watch too much of Lino Miele practice yoga. Other inspiring videos that I recommend watching are highlight reels of Relson and Rickson Gracie. After studying the masters, I feel ready to get up and move.
If you are having trouble sticking to your goal of staying in shape, remember this: It is not going to be easy to do. In my next few blog posts, I will discuss the step-by-step process that I recommend for setting a realistic goal as well as how to develop a plan to reach that goal, how to commit to the changes required to meet the goal, and what happens after the goal is reached.
What fitness-related resolutions did you make this year?

Thanks, Ken! I’m going to use these in my next couple of posts…they are dead on.
This reminds me of 2 Bruce lee quotes: 1- If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.
2- A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at.
